"Königin der Herzen" soll Denkmal im Wiener Augarten erhalten

Ein privater Initiator hat bereits einen Antrag gestellt. Das Denkmal soll eine Pilgerstätte für die Fans von Lady Diana werden.

Nur ein einziges Mal hat Lady Diana Wien mit ihrer Anwesenheit beehrt. Gemeinsam mit ihrem Gatten Charles wurde die „Königin der Herzen“ 1986 von Helmut Zilk und Dagmar Koller durch die Bundeshauptstadt geführt. Jetzt soll Lady Diana in Wien ein Denkmal gesetzt werden. Am besten irgendwo in der Innenstadt. Und vielleicht sogar im Augarten. Es soll ein „Denkmal der Menschlichkeit“ und „ eine Pilgerstätte für ihre Fans werden“, erzählt der 25-jährige Initiator des Projekts, Ewald Wurzinger. „Es ist mir einfach ein Herzensanliegen, dieser unvergesslichen Persönlichkeit etwas für die Ewigkeit zu schaffen“, sagt Wurzinger. Die Idee zum Denkmal ist ihm vor einem Jahr gekommen. „In Zeiten wie diesen, wo Wirtschaftskrise und Egoismus alltäglich sind, soll das Denkmal zum Nachdenken anregen.“

Für sein Projekt hat der 25-jährige Steirer den Bildhauer Wolfgang Karnutsch gewonnen. Er wird die Büste Dianas anfertigen. „Der Tonentwurf ist schon fast fertig. Die Büste selbst soll dann aus Marmor angefertigt werden“, sagt Wurzinger. Dianas Kopf soll anschließend auf einem Sockel postiert werden – Gedenktafel inklusive.

Unterstützer gesucht

Den Antrag für das Lady-Di-Denkmal hat der 25-Jährige bereits gestellt. Wer aber bei der Stadt Wien zuständig ist, ist noch unklar. Wurzinger würde zwar den Augarten favorisieren, „aber ich bin auch für andere öffentliche Standorte offen, wenn jemand Interesse zeigt.“ Aus dem Büro von Kulturstadtrat Andreas Mailath-Pokorny heißt es, dass das Projekt mit entsprechenden Bewilligungen zwar möglich wäre, aber auch Haftungsfragen geklärt werden müssen.

Wurzinger sucht für das Projekt noch Unterstützer. Ähnlich wie beim Michael-Jackson-Denkmal im niederösterreichischen Mistelbach, sollen auch in Wien die Namen der Sponsoren in die Gedenktafel eingraviert werden. Alles Geld, das zu viel einlagt, will Wurzinger dem Roten Kreuz spenden, sagt er. „Es wäre schön, wenn in ein paar Jahren an Dianas Geburtstag Fans das Denkmal besuchen würden.“
