Nach mehr als 24 Stunden. Angeblich ist kein Treibstoff ins Meer gelangt.
Mehr als 24 Stunden hat es gedauert, um das Großfeuer auf einem Treibstoff-Tanker im Golf von Mexiko zu löschen. Es sei kein Treibstoff ins Meer gelangt, sagte ein Sprecher der Ölfirma Pemex in der Nacht auf Montag. Aus Sicherheitsgründen sollten rund hundert Einsatzkräfte weiter vor Ort bleiben, um den Tanker "Burgos" zu überwachen.

Der mit 160.000 Barrel Diesel und Benzin beladene Tanker war am Samstag aus zunächst ungeklärten Gründen vor der Hafenstadt Veracruz in Brand geraten. Die 31 Besatzungsmitglieder konnten in Sicherheit gebracht werden. Pemex-Cef Jose Antonio Anaya betonte, es sei kein Treibstoff ins Meer geraten.

Die "Burgos" verfüge über eine doppelte Wand, so dass kein Leck entstanden sei. Insgesamt wurden 70.000 Liter Löschschaum eingesetzt, um die Flammen zu löschen.
