Die spanische Königstochter Cristina zieht Medienberichten zufolge ohne ihren in eine Korruptionsaffäre verwickelten Ehemann in die Schweiz. Die 48-Jährige werde künftig mit ihren vier Kindern in Genf wohnen, meldete die staatliche Nachrichtenagentur EFE am Mittwoch unter Berufung auf Familienkreise. Das Königshaus wollte sich dazu zunächst nicht äußern.

Die zweitälteste Tochter von König Juan Carlos und Königin Sofía wird den Berichten zufolge in Genf neue Aufgaben für die Stiftung übernehmen, für die sie schon seit Jahren arbeitet. Ihr Ehemann Inaki Urdangarin (ganz re.) bleibe dagegen in Barcelona und werde seine Familie regelmäßig in der Schweiz besuchen.

Gegen den 45-jährigen Ex-Handballer läuft auf Mallorca ein Ermittlungsverfahren. Er steht im Verdacht, als Präsident einer gemeinnützigen Stiftung staatliche Gelder in Millionenhöhe unterschlagen zu haben. Der zuständige Untersuchungsrichter lässt außerdem überprüfen, ob Cristina ihre Steuern ordnungsgemäß gezahlt hat. Die Affäre hat dem Image des spanischen Königshauses schwer geschadet.
