Stuttgart und Freiburg hoffen auf einen Bayern-Sieg im Halbfinale gegen Wolfsburg.
Der VfB Stuttgart und der SC Freiburg dürfen im DFB-Pokal doppelt hoffen. Im Halbfinal-Duell geht es nicht nur um die Vorherrschaft im Land, sondern auch einen möglichen Startplatz im Europacup. Dem Sieger des prestigeträchtigen Derbys am Mittwoch (20.30 Uhr/live ARD) winkt neben der Reise zum Finale nach Berlin auch die Qualifikation für die Europa League. Vorausgesetzt, der haushohe Favorit Bayern München bezwingt im zweiten Halbfinale zu Hause den VfL Wolfsburg.

Vor allem für Freiburg wäre der erstmalige Einzug ins Cup-Finale etwas besonderes. Der Sportklub hat sich in dieser Saison als neueNummer 1im "Ländle" etabliert und hat alsFünftersogar Chancen auf einen Startplatz in der Champions-League-Qualifikation. Dementsprechend zuversichtlich fahren die Badener zum Zwölften ins Schwabenland. Erfolgstrainer Christian Streich spielte die Bedeutung der Begegnung dennoch etwas herunter: "Das ist ein ganz normales Spiel." Streich räumte ein, dass Freiburg "sehr fokussiert" sei, "aber das sagt man ja immer".

Die zuletzt schwächelnden Stuttgarter boten vor heimischer Kulisse am Wochenende mit einem 2:0 gegen Mönchengladbach eine rundum überzeugende Leistung. Martin Harnik ging dabei leer aus, der ÖFB-Internationale hat in der Elf von Trainer Bruno Labbadia aber seinen Stammplatz. Raphael Holzhauser hingegen sitzt beim VfB wohl wieder auf der Bank. Labbadia erwartete "einen heißen Kampf. Wir freuen uns darauf".
