Stararchitekt Gehry designt Facebook-Gebäude

Der unter anderem für das Guggenheim-Museum in Bilbao bekannte Architekt Frank Gehry wird ein Gebäude für 2.800 Programmierer am Facebook-Campus in Menlo Park gestalten. Das Gebäude im Lagerhaus-Stil soll offene, flexibel gestaltbare Büros, jede Menge Mikro-Küchen und viel Grün beinhalten.

Wie Facebook am Wochenende verkündete, wird Stararchitekt Frank Gehry ein neues Gebäude am Unternehmens-Campus in Menlo Park designen. Gehry, der unter anderem das Guggenheim-Museum in Bilbao gestaltet hat, ist auf Bildern mit Facebook-Gründer Mark Zuckerberg beim Betrachten eines Bauwerk-Modells zu sehen.

Viel Grün

Gehrys Pläne sehen ein einzelnes Gebäude im Stile eines offenen Lagerhauses vor. Dort sollen 2.800 Programmierer Platz finden und die Inneneinrichtung innerhalb kurzer Zeit projektspezifisch umgestalten können. Außerdem ist viel Grün vorgesehen. Wie man am Modell erkennen kann, soll das gesamte Grundstück mit Pflanzen und Wasserflächen übersät sein. Auch auf dem Gebäude selbst werden Bäume platziert werden.

Mikro-Küchen

Im Inneren gilt die in hippen IT-Firmen übliche Vorgabe über möglichst viele "Mikro-Küchen", damit die täglich Überstunden schiebende Programmierer-Horde nicht Hunger leidet. Die ganze Konstruktion soll simpel genug sein, um sie innerhalb kürzester Zeit errichten zu können. Mit den Bauarbeiten wird 2013 begonnen.
