Die ersten Big Mac für Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt

McDonald's schließt einen der letzten weißen Flecken und eröffnet neu in Vietnam.

BurgerKing, Kentucky Fried Chicken oder Starbucks: Sie alle gab es bis dato schon in Vietnam – nicht so McDonald's. Henry Nguyen hielt dies für eine Marktlücke, jetzt ist er "Entwicklungslizenznehmer" des ersten Lokals der Fast-Food-Kette in seiner Heimat.

Der auch als Nguyen Bao Hoang bekannte Geschäftsmann ist der Schwiegersohn des mächtigen Regierungschefs Nguyen Tan Dung. Als junger Mann hat er in den USA bei McDonald's Hamburger zubereitet.

Bei der Geschäftseröffnung am Samstag in Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt, dem früheren Saigon, dirigierte Nguyen die zahlreichen Fahrzeuge - überwiegend Mopeds und Motorrikschas - gezielt in sein Drive-In.

Tatsächlich ist ein Big Mac zum Preis von umgerechnet zwei Euro in Vietnam eher etwas für Besserverdiener. Eine Schale mit der traditionellen Pho-Nudelsuppe gibt es an fast jeder Straßenecke für umgerechnet etwa 1,10 Euro.
