Aktionärsrevolte. Die italienische Bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) versinkt im Chaos. Am Montag wurde die Aktie in Mailand vom Handel ausgesetzt, nachdem der größte Aktionär, eine Stiftung in Siena, eine dringend nötige Kapitalerhöhung um 3 Mrd. Euro abgelehnt hatte. Eine Verstaatlichung schloss die Regierung in Rom aus.

Rücktritt. Die 1472 gegründete MPS gilt als älteste noch bestehende Bank. Wegen riskanter Derivategeschäfte schrieb sie seit 2012 fast 8 Mrd. Euro Verlust.
