Vier Fotografen sind Favoriten für die renommierte Auszeichnung "Welt-Pressefoto des Jahres". Die Jury des Wettbewerbs "World Press Photo" veröffentlichte am Mittwoch erstmals eine
Shortlist der Nominierten. Der Sieger des mit 10.000 Euro dotierten Preises soll am 12. April in Amsterdam bekannt gegeben werden.

Ivor Prickett wurde gleich mit zwei Bildern zur Schlacht um Mossul im Irak nominiert.

Insgesamt nominierte die Jury 42 Fotografen aus 22 Ländern für Auszeichnungen in acht Kategorien. Darunter sind auch die beiden Deutschen Jesco Denzel und Thomas P. Peschak. An dem Wettbewerb hatten sich 4.548 Fotografen aus 125 Ländern beteiligt.
