Rund 150 Menschen haben in Athen vor der deutschen Botschaft für die Zusammenführung von Flüchtlingsfamilien demonstriert. Sie skandierten "Deutschland, Germany!" und "Mama Merkel, open the doors!" An der Aktion beteiligten sich 14 vornehmlich syrische Flüchtlinge sowie Aktivisten und Flüchtlingshelfer.

Die sieben Männer und sieben Frauen, die nach eigenen Angaben seit mehr als einem Jahr darauf warten, mit Familienmitgliedern in Deutschland zusammengeführt zu werden, waren Anfang November für ihr Anliegen in den Hungerstreik getreten. Sie fordern Griechenland und Deutschland auf, die Wartezeit von maximal sechs Monaten zur Familienzusammenführung einzuhalten.

"Wir haben sämtliche notwendige Papiere, aber wir warten schon seit über einem Jahr", sagte eine 33-jährige Syrerin der Deutschen Presse-Agentur. Eine andere Frau gab an, bereits 19 Monate auf die Familienzusammenführung mit ihrem Mann zu warten, der in Deutschland lebe.
