Den schönsten Tag im Leben kann man auf den Philippinen mit vielen Menschen teilen.
Auf den Philippinen sind Massenhochzeiten vor dem Valentinstag sehr beliebt.

Hunderte Brautpaare haben sich bei Massenhochzeiten auf den Philippinen rechtzeitig vor dem Valentinstag das Ja-Wort gegeben. Allein in der Hauptstadt Manila kamen am Freitag rund 350 Paare zusammen, um sich von Bürgermeister Joseph Estrada standesamtlich trauen zu lassen, wie örtliche Medien berichteten.

"Wir möchten unsere Beziehung legalisieren", sagte Maria Teresa Ruiz (66), die seit rund 50 Jahren mit ihrem Partner Fernando Marcelo (68) zusammenlebt. Für eine Hochzeit sei angesichts ihrer acht Kinder bisher keine Zeit gewesen.

Massenhochzeiten sind in dem katholischen Land vor dem Valentinstag keine Seltenheit. Laut einer am Freitag veröffentlichten Umfrage glaubt eine große Mehrheit der Philippiner, dass eine Beziehung ein Leben lang hält.
