Eine mehr als 150 Kilogramm schwere Samosa ist in einer Londoner Moschee gebacken worden.
Samosas sind frittierte asiatische Teigtaschen in handlicher Form – eigentlich. In London wurde nun für einen Rekord eine mehr als 150 Kilogramm schwere Riesen-Samosa gebacken.

Unter der Leitung des 26-jährigen Farid Islam arbeiteten in einer Moschee etwa ein Dutzend Freiwillige der Wohltätigkeitsorganisation Muslim Aid UK etwa 15 Stunden an der Teigtasche und hievten diese dann mit einer riesigen Seilwinde in eine speziell angefertigte Fritteuse.

Am Dienstagabend bestätigte schließlich ein Richter des Guinness-Buch der Rekorde die Bestleistung. Mit 153,1 Kilogramm habe Islams Mannschaft eine "absolut großartige Leistung" erbracht und den neuen Rekord der weltgrößten Samosa aufgestellt, sagte Pravin Patel.

Der vorherige Weltrekord hatte bei 110,8 Kilogramm gelegen und war im Juni 2012 von einer Hochschule in Nordengland aufgestellt worden. Zuvor hatte Rekord-Richter Patel die Regeln für die Riesen-Samosa klargestellt: "Sie muss dreieckig sein, Mehl, Erdäpfel, Zwiebeln und Erbsen enthalten, frittiert werden und ihre Form behalten, wenn sie gegart wird."

Das erwies sich als gar nicht so einfach. Es habe so ausgesehen, als würde die Samosa wegrutschen, sagte Chef-Organisator Islam. "Ein Riss zeigte sich und ich habe das Schlimmste befürchtet."

Nach gelungener Mission teilten Islam und sein Team die Riesen-Samosa in hunderte Portionen, die von der Heilsarmee an Obdachlose verteilt wurden. Damit wurde auch Patels Auflage erfüllt, dass die Samosa komplett verspeist werden müsse. "Keine Verschwendung", hatte der Rekord-Richter angemahnt.
