Tausende protestieren auf den Straßen in der Hauptstadt Honduras' Tegucigalpa
Unbekannte hatten die honduranische Umweltschützerin Caceres in ihrem Haus erschossen.

Nach der Ermordung zweier Umweltschützer sind in Honduras Zehntausende Demonstranten gegen die Gewalt auf die Straße gegangen. Die Indios und Angehörigen der afrohonduranischen Minderheit zogen am Donnerstag durch die Hauptstadt Tegucigalpa. Unbekannte hatten vor zwei Wochen die prominente Umweltschützerin Berta Caceres in ihrem Haus erschossen.

"Wir fordern Gerechtigkeit. Das schreckliche Verbrechen gegen Berta darf nicht ungesühnt bleiben."

Am Dienstag wurde ihr Mitstreiter Nelson Garcia, der im Bürgerrat der Volks- und Indio-Organisationen (Copinh) aktiv war, getötet. "Wir fordern Gerechtigkeit. Das schreckliche Verbrechen gegen Berta darf nicht ungesühnt bleiben", sagte Caceres' Ex-Mann und Gründer des Bürgerrats, Salvador Zuniga. Er machte die Behörden für den Mord mitverantwortlich, weil sie die Aktivistin trotz einer Reihe Morddrohungen nicht ausreichend geschützt hätten. Caceres hatte den Protest gegen den Staudamm Agua Zarca am Fluss Gualcarque organisiert.
