Bauzeit betrug drei Jahre: Die "Sailing Yacht A" bricht Rekorde.
Die futuristische Segelyacht mit dem Namen Sailing Yacht A ist am Montag auf der Kieler Förde zu ihrer ersten Probefahrt gestartet. Der Dreimaster mit einer Länge von 140 Metern wird seit rund drei Jahren auf der Werft German Naval Yards (ehemals ADM Kiel) gebaut. Als Auftraggeber gilt der russische Milliardär Andrej Melnitschenko. Der Preis dürfte in dreistelliger Millionenhöhe liegen.

Die Sailing Yacht A ist sogar größer als der mit gut 117 Metern Länge größte "Windjammer" der Welt, die "Sedov" aus Russland. Das nach einem russischen Polarforscher und Seeoffizier benannte Schiff wurde 1921 ebenfalls in Kiel gebaut und fuhr bis 1945 unter deutscher Flagge.
