Ticker-Nachlese: Terrorattacken in London

Bei einem Terrorangriff in London sind in der Nacht zum Sonntag sieben Menschen getötet worden, rund 50 Personen wurden verletzt, teils schwer. Zudem wurden drei Angreifer erschossen.

So soll sich der Vorfall nach Polizeiangaben zugetragen haben:
  • Zunächst fuhr ein Fahrzeug auf der London Bridge in Fußgänger.
  • Der Van mit drei Tätern soll dann zum nahegelegenen Borough Market gefahren sein, wo sie Passanten mit Messern angegriffen haben.
  • Die drei Angreifer, die Attrappen von Sprengstoffmasken trugen, wurden von der Polizei erschossen.
  • Ein dritter Zwischenfall im Stadtviertel Vauxhall hat offenbar nichts mit den Attacken zu tun gehabt.
  • Sonntag Mittag wurden zwölf Verdächtige im Stadtteil Barking festgenommen

Die Wahlen sollen wie geplant stattfinden, der nationale Wahlkampf ist aber ausgesetzt. Die britische Premierministerin Theresa May hat einen Vier-Punkte-Plan zur Terrorismusbekämpfung präsentiert:

  • Den Islamismus und seine Ideologie bekämpfen.
  • Mehr Cyber-Überwachung
  • Genauso die Rückzugsorte der Islamisten in der realen Welt bekämpfen
  • Die Sicherheit in Großbritannien verstärken sowie die Haftstrafen für Islamisten zu erhöhen.

Letzter Anschlag vor wenigen Tagen

Erst vor wenigen Tagen hatte der der 22-jährige Selbstmordattentäter Salman Abedi nach einem Konzert in Manchester mit einer Bombe 22 Menschen mit in den Tod gerissen. Bei dem Terroranschlag waren mehr als 100 Personen verletzt worden.

Am 22. März war ein 52-jähriger Mann auf der Westminster-Brücke in London mit hohem Tempo in Fußgänger gefahren. Anschließend tötete er mit einem Messer einen unbewaffneten Polizisten. Bei dem Terrorangriff waren sechs Menschen ums Leben gekommen und Dutzende Menschen verletzt worden. Der Attentäter wurde erschossen.
